Google Drive Desktop (Recommended)

Easiest — No Setup

If you have Google Drive for Desktop installed, just save your garden file inside your Google Drive folder. It syncs automatically to all your computers — nothing else to configure.

  1. Install Google Drive for Desktop on both computers if you haven't already
  2. On this computer, click 📁 Set Save File in the top bar and navigate to your Google Drive folder when choosing where to save
  3. Google Drive syncs the file automatically — on your other computer, click 📂 Open Layout and navigate to the same Google Drive file
  4. From then on, both computers auto-save to the same file in the cloud ✓

Google Drive API — In-App Cloud Access

Requires 5-min Setup

Connect directly to Google Drive so you can save and load your garden from any browser — even without Google Drive Desktop installed. Requires a free Google Cloud OAuth Client ID.

  1. Go to console.cloud.google.com → create a new project (name it anything)
  2. Search for "Google Drive API" → Enable it
  3. Go to APIs & Services → Credentials → Create Credentials → OAuth 2.0 Client ID
  4. Choose Web Application → add https://yard-planner.netlify.app as an Authorized Origin (or your own domain if hosting)
  5. Copy the Client ID and paste it below
